Nostalgia: a wistful or excessively sentimental yearning for return to or of some past period of irrecoverable condition
Nostalgia can induce many different feelings. For example, rewatching your favorite childhood movie could bring up feelings of joy, warmth, and safeness; it could remind you of the happy, carefree days of your youth and of the friends you spent it with. But what if this movie instead brought up negative emotions? What if these childhood memories simply remind you of how different things are today—the responsibilities you now carry, the friends you’ve lost over the years?
