I could not climb the mountain to reach Victory.
My own blood had to be shed for a clean slate—
But You did it for me.

Filling my cup with good deeds, I exploited every opportunity.
Mastering the science of performance, I was determined to control my fate,
But could not climb the mountain to reach Victory.

Every meritless success was a milestone in my idle journey.
I hoped one day to break the barrier separating me from Heaven’s gate—
But You did it for me.

Once I stumbled upon my reflection, I finally saw my depravity.
My vanity was all that carried me onward, and I realized it was too late.
I could not climb the mountain to reach Victory.

O Lord, I have been Your enemy!
I cannot save myself from my lowly state—
But You did it for me.

Finding the Truth was my most humbling discovery,
And into my prideful heart did it deeply penetrate.
I could not climb the mountain to reach Victory—
But You did it for me.
