By the pricking of our thumbs, something spooky this way comes! We at Inkwell Literary Magazine have loved exploring our latest theme for this issue. We have several staff writers who are making their debut in this issue, and we cannot wait for you to read their work in our second issue of the year, “Haunt.”

Haunt: to be persistently and often disturbingly present in mind, place, or action.

From describing the old stomping grounds that we always seem drawn to, to exploring the depths of regret and trauma, we hope this issue not only gives you a fun, spooky story for an autumn evening, but also a strong reminder about the truth of darkness. No matter the fearful circumstances that may surround us, darkness only reminds us of how bright our hope in the Lord is. Whether it’s the dark consequences of our own actions, the fallout from old family failings, or even the valley of the shadow of death, we can cling to the light of Christ.

We hope you this issue and come away with a new appreciation for the contrast of tragedy when held up to the joy of the Lord and an encouragement that even in darkness of the worst of this world, God’s light shines.
