As the world is changing rapidly in response to COVID-19, Inkwell Literary Magazine has been inspired by the people around the world who are pulling together to fight this pandemic. Whether they are healthcare workers on the front lines, factory workers making masks and ventilators, or everyday citizens doing their part by staying home, we thank those who are helping us win this battle for health. In honor of this worldwide fight, we are so glad our April issue is “Uprising.”
From forgotten heroes in science fiction wars to the courage required to keep walking even in the valley of the shadow, we hope this issue reminds you that there is always something worth fighting for. Our writers explore the idea of true courage being in falling for something just as much as it is standing for something. We want to remind you of the iron in your bones, the fire in your heart, the strength in your arms, but also the reason in your mind, the love in your heart, and the humility on your tongue.
May our writing help you find the honor of martyrdom, the inspiration of the people who stand on the soap box, and the glory of the cause, not the battle.

“Behold, all who are incensed against you shall be put to shame and confounded; those who strive against you shall be as nothing and shall perish. You shall seek those who contend with you, but you shall not find them; those who war against you shall be as nothing at all. For I, the LORD your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, ‘Fear not, I am the one who helps you.’” – Isaiah 41:11-13 ESV
