Welcome back, everyone! Inkwell Literary Magazine is back and better than ever with our first issue of the 2021 year! We are so excited for our third semester of publication. Our team has lots of new things planned that we can't wait to share with our community of readers.
We are proud to present the theme for our first issue of the semester, "Initiation."
Initiation: "The action of beginning; moving from innocence to experience or maturity; recognizing a truth."
While all college students are familiar with ritual initiations, we're challenging our writers to go deeper into this theme. We want to see the stories of strange beginnings, of journeys into the unknown, of learning what it means to live in our broken world. Literature is ripe with stories of initiation, from Sarah Orne Jewett's "A White Heron" to Jack London's The Call of the Wild. We want to see your spin on this classic literary theme. Tell us your stories of growing up, of starting something new, and of seeing clearly to the truth of a matter.
Send your creative work to submissions@inkwellmagazine.com by February 12th for consideration of inclusion in our next issue.
"Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert." - Isaiah 43:19 ESV
