Volume VII, Issue 2: "Eclipsed" Announcement...And More!
Welcome back, Inkwell readers! Our first issue this semester, "Perception," will be released next week on September 26th. We're so excited to share what we've been working on! Meanwhile, we're here to tease our next issue...and some exciting announcements.
Eclipsed: “the total or partial obscuring of one celestial body by another," or "the state of being eclipsed."
Perhaps you have admired a magnificent solar eclipse or witnessed the awe-inspiring beauty of a lunar eclipse. People around the world have used them as a way to mark the passage of time, to fine tune their calendars. Some cultures viewed them as bad omens, harbingers of death, destruction, and terrible chaos.
However, the word refers to more than an astronomical event. When something new displaces something old, a celebrity rises from their predecessor's shadow, a politician loses an election, or even a third grader's achievements are displaced by the new kid on the block, someone is being eclipsed.
We can't wait to see what you come up with for this theme! And this year, for the first time, we are also accepting flash fiction submissions. There is a 300-800 word limit per story. Additionally, we are allowing writers to submit two stories every issue, provided each submission is a different genre. We're so excited!
Submissions for "Eclipsed" close on October 10th. In the meantime, we hope you'll enjoy "Perception" when it hits the web next week. Soli Deo Gloria!
