Volume III, Issue 8: Empowerment
Today is a special day for our Inkwell staff and all the Bob Jones University community! Today is graduation day for the class of 2022. We want to wish hearty congratulations to our graduating seniors: Emily McCullough, Catherine Reynolds, Kenzie McGregor, Isabella Skellenger, Macy McArthur, Melinda Dersch, Autumn Buchanan, Jessi Skrade, Joanna Scoggins, and Zane Trively.
Many of our graduating seniors were founding members of the Inkwell team in 2020, and this issue has been bittersweet as they have put in their last bit of effort into a project they started based on their own love, passion, and faith. But what better note to end on than Empowerment?
Empowerment: the process of becoming stronger and more confident, especially in controlling one's life and claiming one's rights.
We hope our seniors are empowered by their time at BJU and their experience on the Inkwell staff, and we hope that this last issue of the semester leaves all our readers feeling empowered to do what God has called them to do.
Finally, a last message from our editor-in-chief, Joanna Scoggins:
“This issue will be the last that I have the pleasure of serving on as editor-in-chief of Inkwell Literary Magazine. After five semesters, I will be passing on the job to one much more qualified than me. I can’t help but look back at all that God has done and all the blessings He has bestowed upon this labor of love over the past two and a half years. In the fall of 2020, Inkwell was a pipe dream: the idea of a place where creative writers here at BJU could publish their work, where we could practice our writing, receive peer feedback, and share it with others. Today, it is a reality due to the support of faculty and readers, the dedication of so many students, and the blessing of God. I am immensely thankful for all three of those things. I cannot thank my staff enough; you guys are a huge blessing to me. I wish I had room to thank each of you personally here, but I’ll just have to say I love you all. Thank you for making my college experience the joy that it has been. To God be the glory!”
