Silly Moon
Silly moon.
Did you think that you could fool
Those of us that know the sun?
Your path across its countenance
Lasts only for a moment.
Silly moon.
Your feeble efforts can’t erase
The blazing rays that burn beyond your shadow.
You cannot hide the sun
Nor its effects.
Silly moon.
Did you think a little darkness
Would convince us that the sun
No longer lives?
You’ve tried that trick before!
Silly moon.
As you stand defiant in its way
With your dark side toward its face,
Can’t you feel the fullness of its fury on your back?
You shine its glory to the other stars!
